Oatmeal Porridge

Did you know that taking oats daily in form of porridge, Baked goods, Drinks has a wide range of health benefits? Commercially, it has also been touted as being highly nutritious. My love for oats was intensified after reading an article by wiki's MyTravelCuisine where one of my porridge recipes was featured. I got to learn more about the health benefits one could gain by taking this wonderful meal.

Ingredients: 1 serving 
*1 cup Instant Oats (I used quaker Oats)
*2 cups of Water 
*A pinch of Salt (optional) 
*Milk (Wasn't included in the pics)

- In a pot, add 2 cups of water and leave to boil 
-Pour in your cup of oats and add the salt then leave for about 2mins 
-Add your sweetener (Sugar/honey) and milk
-Dish out and serve

Health Benefits

-Daily serving of oats can reduce High blood pressure and hypertension

-Oatmeal is a significant source of dietary fiber which has proven to be effective in lowering blood cholesterol (LDL: low density lipoprotein Aka Bad cholesterol) and possibly reducing the risk of heart diseases. By talking about 3g of oats a day, such risks would be highly reduced. 

-Also, the high fiber content of oats helps in keeping you fuller for a longer time, thereby aiding in weight loss. 

-Oats help in keeping bowel movements regular meaning it speeds the passage of stool through the guts thereby relieving constipation. This is because oats have high fiber content which include soluble and insoluble. The insoluble fiber are sponge like which makes them able to absorb liquids many times its own weight

-For diabetic patients, the Beta-glucan in oats prevents or delays the decline of blood sugar to premature levels.

-Oats contain Phytochemicals (plant chemicals) which have been associated with protection from chronic diseases such as cancer.

-Oats is rich in Protein which is nearly equivalent to soy protein

-The ligans in oats have been linked to decreased risk of hormone related diseases such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, Endometrial cancer, Ovarian cancer.

  7. I ruined so many outfits and had to do the changes (sheets, blankets, etc.) in the middle of the night so many times with my son in other diapers. For a while anyone who was holding him would panic if they heard or smelled anything because those other diapers wouldn't hold his forceful breastfed pooh. These never leaked.
